My dear complex carbon based units. Thanks for being with me and let me welcome you to the 13th newsletter from my project El Soter. If you missed previous editions of this newsletter you can read them here: www.neversun.net/elsoter/freestuff.html 1. News 2. Into The Class 3. Post End .......................... 1. News There is a slight change in the play list on Number One Music page of mine. I took down 'Freak Show' and added another song, 'Initiation' which is the second track on the album Appletree of Discord. You are welcome to take a listen. 2. Into The Class I like movies and I bet many of you do, too. After seeing a movie I spend a lot of time thinking about it. Unintentionally. It just pops in my head now and then. Right here I don't talk about works like Scary Movie, Big Momma's House and similar achievements of mediocrity. I prefer festival movies. They are called this way because unfortunately you rarely see them elsewhere than on movie festivals. One of the latest that took possession of my spare time thoughts was The Class (orig. Entre Les Murs), Oscar nominated and winning Palme d'or in Cannes. A teacher deals with racially mixed students from a tough Parisian neighborhood. But it is not that much about the race, but rather about youngsters, their way of thinking and communicating with adults. What was shown here in a really scary way is (at least I have seen it this way) how complex we are as a society. So complex and therefore incredibly fragile that it is a miracle that our system stands on its feet where a single word can break a piece of it down... 3. Post End Post End is the epilogue to the Appletree of Discord album. It's again, as it is for the prologue, Emily Dickinson's poem, read by a Canadian girl that once lived in my town... What a better poem to conclude my thoughts from above: "Much Madness is divinest Sense -- To a discerning Eye -- Much Sense -- the starkest Madness -- 'Tis the Majority In this, as All, prevail -- Assent -- and you are sane -- Demur -- you're straightway dangerous -- And handled with a Chain --" Thanks for being signed to El Soter's newsletter.
