1. News and the Book

I mentioned you in my previous newsletter that I started teaching 3D computer graphics at the University of Natural Sciences in Ljubljana (Slovenia). Well, it's over. I've been invited to hold lectures for one semester only. And that's just fine with me. It was an extraordinary experience, but I'm not sure that it might be my ideal job. Maybe as my second job, thou.

After we've finished with lectures, a couple of weeks ago, me and the colleague, dr. Helena Gabrijelcic (also Amateur God's singer), who invited me to work with her on this educational program, found out that actually there is no suitable literature for 3D graphics in Slovene language. Even in English it's quite hard to find something of wider range, but mostly only specific books. This is where we contacted some book publishers in Slovenia and presented them our intention. Three of them are interested and so we are negotiating the optimal solution for both parties. 

Book on the way, then... hopefully.

2. Quality Time

You've heard it before: "Buy our product! You will finish your work faster and therefore have more room for quality time."

And this is what it is buzzing constantly in my head in last few months: "What is 'quality time'"?

No, I mean it. What is it? Is it spending your time with your family? With Kids? Friends? Is it partying? Maybe lying in front of TV and watching a nice movie.

What if I adore working? Is then working 'my quality time'?

What is it for you?


3. Chaos Based Directions

As I mentioned in a couple of interviews, this song conceptually represents in the best way the album Appletree of Discord. The album and whole El Soter concept is build around the idea of humanity that lost some reference points, something to rely on. I think that all of us, whether we talk about a single individual or whole nation, stands helplessly and disoriented, then grabbing whatever to gain certain stability, being a religion, political party, ideology, philosophy or whatever else. Do you remember the movie Castaway where Tom Hanks draw a smiley onto the ball and making a friend out of it? Well, this is what I am actually talking about.

In this song there is also a phrase borrowed from a Monty Python movie Life of Brian: "Shall we follow a gourd or a shoe?". What an excellent example...


"Chaos based directions, people know not where to go or spot a guiding star..."
