1. News

I have two news. First one is that I've found a great review of 
Appletree of Discord album on Zona Zero. They rated the album 83/100.

2. 2008 and a Black Pope

What happened in 2008?

This is the question that some TV channels have been asking people 
around the globe. What was that marked 2008 as a year to remember?

Slovenia has a new government and this is what every Slovenian said as first answer. (The second one was recession.) US citizens said...


In 1996 Italy elected Denny Mendez as Miss Italy. It was in the mouth of everyone and almost became a scandal. Beautiful girl elected Miss Italia   - so far, so good. Only tricky particular was that she was black and this was a bothering fact for some.

A year later, in 1997, a band from Venice (Italy) wrote a song "Papa nero" (Black Pope) performing it on Italian greatest music festival in Sanremo. Part of the lyrics went: "After black Miss Italia, a black pope... I find in improbable...".

Honestly, before Joseph Alois Ratzinger aka Pope Benedict XVI was elected as a new first man of Vatican, I was expecting that it might really there be a chance to see a pope of African origin. I guess I was too optimistic. Unfortunately the world is not ready for that change yet. Or...


.. US citizens said: "We have new president!"

3. Blaming the Moon

It is funny for me to write this newsletter right at the full moon period. It's just a coincidence. Seems that this week the moon was particularly close to the Earth and therefore some people were feeling its effects quite a bit. Most of the ones surrounding me were experiencing it as a tiredness... or that might be just another coincidence.

"Blaming the Moon" is a 7th track on Appletree of Discord. I had those lyrics in mind for a long time and finally I was able to put them in music. I find this phrase very common where there is someone or something to blame when things go wrong. In most of the cases you can hear: "Probably it's because the moon is full (or just the fact that it's up there)".

Musically is one of the most complex tracks on the album with unusual guitar chords and symphonic background.
