Hey! Welcome back. This time plenty of news regarding El Soter project. Let's start right away. 1. News 2. Kawasaki, Yugo and Blocked Entrance 3. The Hail ............................ 1. News Oh, man. There are so many news that I will need to write them in paragraphs. And I am not even mentioning them all. 1.1 Yeah! Appletree of Discord has it's own website now. You'll never guess the URL! It's www.AppletreeOfDiscord.com. Hard to remember? Try this: www.ElSoter.com. It's temporarily linked to the address above. On this site you will see (almost) everything about the album. Samples, techniques, background stories, pictures, etc. 1.2 CD Baby started selling the album. That means easy and quick way to order for you, especially for American continent. You can reach the page to the album from www.AppletreeOfDiscord.com or just direct link cdbaby.com/cd/elsoter. 1.3 Video won 1st award on Festival 600 in Ljubljana (Slovenia) as the best competing music video. We rock! 1.4 Still about the video. I've been contacted by MTV Italia who saw the very same video online. They wanted it for their screening purposes. Stiamo sassando! (That means 'We rock!' in Italian). 2. Kawasaki, Yugo and Blocked Entrance This is something that happened to me some weeks ago. It's not much of the story, but it has something that got certain impact on me. I have a 500 ccm bike suitable for city and short rides. I am parking it in an abandoned house whose owner is a friend of mine. She doesn't use this house so it's a perfect solution far having my vehicle in a dry and safe place. The entrance is facing to the road, between them there's a walking path about two meters (some more than 6 feet) wide and people sometimes park their cars there. I never had any problem regarding this, but at a certain point there was someone with an old Yugo parking right in the front of the entrance and he made me a really hard time to drive my bike in and out of the house. He was parking it like he was doing it by purpose to block the entrance, since moving the car slightly back or forth would solve everything. So, one day I had enough of it and I left him a ticket with a message on the wind shield saying: „Can you please not block my access to the house? Thanks.“ When I came back later there was a reply: „Can you please leave my rear-view mirror in peace and not twisting and breaking it? Thanks.“ I have seen that his external rear-view mirror was broken indeed and that there was obviously someone else annoyed by his way of parking. I've got so angry that I thought I would burn that car (as much as you can call Yugo a car). Instead I took a deep breath, calmed down and wrote: „I never touched your mirror. Thanks anyway for your kindness.“ I couldn't believe the result. He never parked there again and never said anything more. My point here is that sometimes pays off to cool down and try to solve things with calm and politeness. 3. The Hail This was one of the first four tracks I wrote for this album. It was also on the demo. We are victims of hunger for more material goods and equally this pushes us to want more. There is no winner in this race, only a perfect dehumanization effect: "It's hailing diamonds. No need for a sand in the desert." It starts with clean guitar intro then slowly turning into rocking song. Some listener once said that the intro has nothing to do with the song and it is more as a separate part. Wrong. The same intro is later repeated in the slower part of the song in the background. It also uses similar chords, but due to the different approach between intro and the rest of the song they might look distant at first listen. This track is also featured on DVD on this album, where it was shortened from 4'45" to 3'35". More about the video in some future newsletter. I'll talk to you again later this month when I'm back from my trip to Bosnia. Thanks for being with me. Should you have any questions or comments, please feel free to write me an email.
