El Soter project newsletter #002 Hello. Together again after two weeks, huh? Thanks for signing up for El Soter's newsletter and if you've missed the 1st one, no problem. I am keeping them archived online here: www.neversun.net/elsoter/freestuff.html 1. News 2. Marriage, False Marriage and a Golden Age of Grotesque 3. Emily Dickinson's Poetry in El Soter's Album ............................ 1. News There was an one hour interview with me about El Soter project on Radio Slovenia 2, Wednesday, April 30th. I was presenting Appletree of Discord album. In between the interview there were inserted some songs from this new release of mine. I have uploaded the interview as a podcast on El Soter's official page, but since it is in Slovene, many of you won't be able to understand it. Again: no problem. I've been asked from a Canadian radio station to have a phone interview with me and I will post that as a podcast on my site as well. This one will be in English. 2. Marriage, False Marriage and a Golden Age of Grotesque Thang's god, the wedding is over. I am talking about my sister's wedding that took place Saturday. Some years ago I was working as a professional photographer in US and our service was focused mainly on shooting weddings. Therefore I can say I've seen dozens of them - some were pretty some weren't. Well, the one from the past Saturday beat them all. It was a horrible display of exhibitionism, bad taste and call for attention in the most wrong of the ways. I am so sorry for the people involved in it, including my parents and other relatives, who tried hard to make something memorable out of it. You know that wedding parties tend to extend into late night or early morning, leaving marry memories in people attending it. In this case, quite a portion of invitees left before midnight. This parade of kitsch and cheap show could be a great inspiration material for the next Marilyn Manson's song. And mine also. What about "Fallse Marriage"? Right. That was an "art installation" by my girlfriend and me. We bought equal rings and put them on our left hand ring finger. If someone asked us what it is, we said we got married a week before, but it wasn't our intention to make a big deal out of it. Do you think anyone bothered? Nope. Not enough noise around it, I guess. I'd like to see my sister's wedding simple and tasty, something to be remembered nicely, not as a live copy of The Cell movie (www.cellmovie.com). It's all over now. 3. Emily Dickinson's Poetry in El Soter's Album I was acquainted with Emily Dickinson's poetry before... before I've got her book of poems for my birthday few years ago. I was amazed by the beauty of words she used. Then I decided to choose two of them to insert in the album: one for the intro (Pre-Initiation) and one for the outro (Post-End). Both tracks under two minutes. Her poetry are words of some fragile being in the world where dog eats dog. Being her an American poet, I wanted to have a female voice with an American accent. I was lucky to find Helen Filipcic, a Canadian who lived near my town (we're talking of Slovenia). So, we recorded her voice and it came out close to what I wanted. "Emily Dickinson (December 10, 1830 – May 15, 1886) was an American poet. Born in Amherst, Massachusetts to a successful family with strong community ties, she lived a mostly introverted and reclusive life. After being schooled at the Amherst Academy for seven years in her youth, she spent a short time at Mount Holyoke Female Seminary before retiring to her family's house, the Homestead. Throughout her adult life she rarely traveled outside of Amherst or very far from home. Thought of as an eccentric by the locals, she became known for her penchant for white clothing and her reluctance to greet guests or, later in life, even leave her room. Most of her friendships were therefore carried out by correspondence..." Taken from Wikipedia Have nice two weeks. Talk to you in mid May. All the best, Blaz Erzetic P.S.
